| March 13, 2010 Excerpt from: Commercial Skylight Repair | | It has been one year since we replaced the skylight over the Atrium for La Mer Condominiums in Naples, Florida | I just received a call from one of the residents at La Mer Condo's in Naples, FL. He wanted to express his thanks and appreciation for the wonderful project that we built for them last year. The project was a success; it came in under budget and under the specified time frame to complete.
We removed the space frame originally manufactured by Uni-Strut (It was all rusted) and the so-called skylight, which were really just acrylic domes stuck to the steel frame. We replaced it with an aluminum free-span structure manufactured by Conservatek and then covered it with a canopy style skylight, called a U-Lite, manufactured by CPI.
The atrium is open to the outside and the skylight prevents water from entering the interior in all but the worst storms. This is the original design and the owners wished to keep it the same way.

| March 12, 2010 Excerpt from: Velux Solar Water Heating Systems | | When many people think of solar, they think of PV or electric usage, however heating water is another less expensive solar choice | The link below has the following paragraph in it describing solar thermal and the need for harvesting thermal solar energy, specifically in Colorado.
When most people think of solar energy, they imagine using it to generate electricity, and that's where a lot of buzz and venture-capital investment dollars currently go. But in the average home, harnessing the sun's free energy for daily hot-water needs can be a more practical and affordable bet. Water heating is the third-largest energy expense in most households, after space heating and air conditioning, according to the Energy Department. This year, Hawaii began mandating solar water heaters in most new homes, and cold-weather locales such as New York and Colorado are among the state leaders in installations. | | |
