| California supporting the installation of 200,000 new solar water heating systems by 2017 | Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed a landmark solar energy bill, called The Solar Water-Heating and Efficiency Act of 2007(AB1470). It commits 10 years of state sponsored subsidies for solar water heating technologies, giving the solar thermal industry and consumers unprecedented long term market assurance. The explicit goals of the legislation are to build at least 200,000 new solar water heating systems at homes and businesses by 2017 and by doing so to create a mainstream, self sufficient market. Run by the California Center for Sustainable Energy, this $250 Million program offers homeowners a $1500. rebate for active solar water heating systems. In addition to the energy related benefits, a driving force for the Act is the fact that solar water heating guarantees real reductions in greenhouse gases, helping the state to achieve its goal of cutting carbon dioxide 25% by 2020. The complete article can be discussed by contacting us or referring to the Solar Today magazine publication referenced below. Hope our Colorado Gov. Ritter reads it and calls The Terminator !
