Green Builder Magazine reports on Velux Solar Water Heating Systems

When one of the building industry's big players puts solar hot water heating in it's lineup, you know you've found a manufacturer that has taken green to the next level. For builders, green or otherwise, this is good news.

Numerous companies offer solar water heating components, but Velux has designed a roof mounted system with the builder in mind. The collectors are designed to be flashed right into the roof, just like a skylight, using standard flashing materials and methods. The Velux collectors accept the same flashing found on Velux skylights, and can even be attractively integrated into skylight and collector combinations.

To eliminate the potential for operating problems or leakage in the long term,  the company provides the system as a complete proven pre-engineered package. All components, including solder-free flexible stainless plumbing, are provided in a package proven in European applications. With a plumbing system with no joints or breaks in the system, from roof to mechanical room, no callbacks to the certified installer are anticipated, and it is easy for Velux to offer complete system warranties.
