Velux Solar Water Heaters provide HERS Score Improvement of Seven(7) Points

Improved HERS Score Energy Ratings required by Building Departments can be readily obtained using solar water heating systems

Boulder County Colorado, the City of Boulder, and the City of Longmont have instituted Green Building and Green Points programs into their Building Program. Mandatory Green Building reqirements and Green Points requirements have been defined based on HERS Scores(Home Energy Rating Systems)  from certified RESNET Energy Raters (Residential Energy Service Network).

To obtain a building permit,  each  home or construction project is evaluated and awarded an overall HERS Rating. This HERS rating determines point values for contruction details and energy systems and their contribution to improved home efficiency, compared to standard building practices. Overall efficiency is scored from 100 to zero, with the lower the better. As the required low ratings become harder and impractical to obtain with conventional building practices, renewable energy systems are required.

Solar water heating is shown to be an the most affordable active solar energy system to intall, and is now shown to be an excellent easy way to meet the stringent new HERS requirements.

The seven (7) point value awarded to the Velux solar water heating system is one of the most cost effective ways to attain these ratings. In addition, a Green Points rating improvement of eight (8) points is also available for these systems. Visit www.bouldergreenpoints.com
