A lottery-style pilot program aimed at assisting solar hot water system customers in Boulder, Colo., will begin this month, according to a report on DailyCamera.com.
The city of Boulder, Boulder County and the Center for ReSource Conservation are sponsoring the rebate program, in which county residents who are installing a system in their existing homes or incorporating a system in newly constructed homes can receive up to $3,000.
The state energy office, along with the city and county, are funding the program, which begins July 14. To qualify for entry into the lottery, installations must be in Boulder County and performed by an approved contractor, Daily Camera notes. Additionally, existing homes must receive an energy audit for the Residential Energy Audit Program to be eligible.
The first 15 applications drawn will receive a confirmation letter guaranteeing a rebate payment, provided the system is installed by the end of the year.
