In political poll after poll, the American public has expressed the desire for a sustainable energy future based on renewable resourcesand efficiency. Despite the Energy Policy rhetoric at the recent Democratic National Convention (DNC) here in Denver, the current Federal Investment Tax Credit for solar water heating systems is still set to expire at the end of 2008. We will probably hear similar political speeches from the Republican National Convention (RNC) on energy incentives. The actual candidate' s and Party positions can be reviewed at www.votesmart.org. However the reality is that Congress has left for summer recess without extending or increasing the incentives for taxpaying homeowners to obtain credits for renewable energy investments. The most probable timetable for tax credit continuation is delayed and not expected until spring of 2009 under whatever new administration is installed in January. Therefore, in order to secure the current 30% tax credit (up to $2000.) an approved solar water heating system has to be purchased and installed before the end of the year. We at Skylight Specialists, Inc. would be happy to educate you on the SRCC approved Velux Solar Water Heating product and how to secure the tax credit for 2008 installations, before they dissappear. The good news is the Colorado Governor's Energy Office (GEO)is planning state rebate programs for 2009, so please stay tuned to this blogsite for updated information. |
